Quantum Information Technology and Optical Communication with Optical Fiber

Recently, optical communication system becomes increasingly important. The communication scheme with quantum signal of weak optical field has been studied in addition to one with the conventional signal by the coherent optical field. In the quantum scheme, signals are processed through quantum interferences among themselves, and quantum protocols using such a procedure have eagerly been researched. In this talk, we will review various quantum protocols, and, in particular, we would like to discuss topics of the optical fiber that realize a low-loss communication channel. In the present scheme, the electromagnetic fields are represented from the viewpoint of quantum optics, and the propagation properties of the weak optical field are also studied.
